It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Brendan James Rowswell on Wednesday, 22 July. Brendan departed this world surrounded by the love of his family and friends, leaving behind a community united in grief and cherished memory.
Brendan’s life was one marked by connection and kindness. As a beloved twin brother, son, and friend, he touched countless lives with his warmth and spirit. His sudden departure has created an irreplaceable void, yet his memory calls us not only to mourn but to honour the joy and light he brought into the world.
To celebrate Brendan’s life and offer prayers for his peaceful repose, a funeral service will be held on Monday, 3 August 2026, at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mentone. The service will commence with the Recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 AM, followed by a Requiem Mass at 11:00 AM. All who knew and loved Brendan are warmly welcomed to attend and share in this farewell.
Following the burial, a wake will be held at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club, providing an opportunity for fellowship and shared remembrance among those who held him dear.
In a poignant tribute to Brendan’s compassionate spirit, his family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to support vital dementia research through Dementia Australia. This gesture transforms grief into hope, ensuring Brendan’s legacy contributes to a future of care and discovery for others.
